Online conference dedicated to the topic of ecotourism

Promoting ecotourism is of great importance to current residents and visitors to the regions of Western and Central Europe. Especially in terms of sustainability and a positive approach to the environment, which are key modern trends in the field of tourism. We are also aware of the significance of this topic within the organization Košice Región Turizmus and therefore we plan to develop it also through an international online conference, implemented within the EcoVeloTour project. The purpose of the project is to support the development of sustainable tourism in the Danube region along the EuroVelo 11 network of cycling routes.

The conference is intended for the general professional public from the tourism industry, such as travel agencies, tourism organizations (KOCR, OOCR, …), hotels, entrepreneurs, freelancers, start-ups and the media. Attendance at the conference is free.

Topic of the online conference: Possibilities of the development of ecotourism in the Košice region

  • Strategy for the development of ecotourism in the Košice region
  • Practical examples from abroad
  • Presentation of the EcoVeloTour project and its outputs in the Košice Region
  • Introduction of the BirdTour project (Interreg V-A SKHU)

Deadline: February 25, 2021, 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Location: Online (Zoom platform)

Program of the conference:

The online form of the conference is based on the current measures related to the Covid-19 pandemic, but also reflects the values stemming from the project itself. Such a value is also the elimination of mass and non-ecological mobility, which contributes not only to a more efficient use of the time of the conference participants themselves, but also to a friendly approach to the environment. At the same time, it provides a space for interconnection of experts from several parts of the world.

The content of the conference, in addition to the presentation of selected regions, will be complemented by organizations promoting responsible tourism and ecotourism. One such organization among foreign participants is Alpin Pearls, whose goal is to minimize the impact of tourism on the environment and to build activities that support green mobility in the regions.

Projects in which we have been actively participating for a long time have a similar focus, goals and values and will be part of several inputs within the lectures of the online conference. One of them is the BirdTour project (Interreg V-A SKHU) as a practical example of an activity focused on the creation of ecotourism products based on the phenomenon of birdwatching in the Košice region. But also the already mentioned EcoVeloTour project, within which we participate in the planning of ecotourism in the Košice region with a vision of sustainable tourism development. This increases the tourist attractiveness of the region.

The conference is implemented within the EcoVeloTour project, supported by the Interreg Danube Transnational Program.
