Ascent to the tower

To view the outside world from above - this has always been man's desire. The tower of the Roman Catholic Parish Church of the Assumption of Virgin Mary is the highest church tower in Slovakia and, in addition to the view of Spišská Nová Ves, it also offers a panorama of the High Tatras. But the magnificent view is not the only reason to climb the 155 stairs. In the tower, there is the highest built bell tower of the Spiš region with five bells. The oldest of them - The Death Bell cast in 1486 - comes from the famous bell-making workshop of Master Konrad. The two largest bells, Urban and Concordia, are from the mid-19th century and have a diameter of 206 and 164 cm, respectively. One more important information - thanks to its height of 87 meters, the tower in Spišská Nová Ves is registered in the Book of Slovak Records.
