Travertine of Beňatin is a natural monument and protected area of Protected Landing Area Vihorlat in Slovakia.
The natural monument was declared for protection of geological outcrop, that forms a profile of most Eastern laid travertine in our country, as well as fossilized remains of shellfish.
The beautiful natural scenery and crystal clear water attracts almost carefree swimming. The surroundings are quiet and you may count visitors on the fingers of your one of your hands. It reminds us of the Croatian rocky coast. The water here is clean, though a little bit cold.
The development of travertine continues to this today.
