Sight-seeing the Monuments from a Bike - Ochtiná

Who wouldn't be interested in riding a bike instead of driving a car at least once in a while? To get to know the Slovak region more slowly than from a speeding car but a little faster than human walking? Why not enjoy nature, the sun, the wind in your hair, admire the unique Romanesque-Gothic church in Ochtiná and end it at the Tunel pod Homôlkou technical monument?

Don't worry, you don't have to go all the way from your home to Ochtiná by bike. To get around and park your car, you may use the car parking lot in the village next to this bike route.

The bike route connects the national cultural monument with preserved fresco decoration - the Church in Ochtiná, which carries elements of the Romanesque, Gothic, and Baroque styles and which is among the oldest and most interesting landmarks of the Gemer Region, the Ochtiná Aragonite Cave as a world unique of tiny Slovakia, as the cave is one of three accessible aragonite caves of this planet and the above-mentioned technical monument -

Tunnel under Homôlka, which is located in the village of Slavošovce. The bike route near the tunnel connects to the route leading from the region of Banská Bystrica, and in Ochtiná it also connects to the route from that region.
The villages of Ochtiná, Štítnik, Koceľovce, and Brdárka with their churches belong to the so-called Štítnik Circuit of the Gothic Path. The church in Plešivec and Roštár are also included in that circuit.
