The Spi\u0161 Region and Slovak Paradise<\/h3>\n

Spi\u0161 is a region of Slovakia with all the ingredients of a popular travel destination. It lies between four national parks: the Tatra National Park to the north-west, Pieniny National Park to the north, Slovak Paradise National Park to the south-east and Low Tatras National Park to the south-west.<\/p>\n

Whichever direction you choose, Spi\u0161 will not let you leave easily. Its basins are captivating, as is its exceptionally rich treasury of artistic and historical monuments, particularly Gothic and Renaissance architecture, sculpture, murals and panel paintings. The region also boasts abundant travertine formations. It is home to Spi\u0161 Castle, Europe\u2019s largest castle by area. The late Gothic limewood altar in the Church of St James in Levo\u010da is the tallest of its kind in the world. The tower of the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, Slovakia\u2019s tallest church tower, dominates the skyline of Spi\u0161sk\u00e1 Nov\u00e1 Ves from every direction. The town is rightly known as the Gateway to Slovak Paradise. Even a short walk in this national park brings the unforgettable views from Tom\u00e1\u0161ovsk\u00fd v\u00fdh\u013ead. The scenery is equally absorbing on a walk through the Horn\u00e1d Gorge or the park\u2019s other gorges and ravines.
