Vo viacer\u00fdch dolin\u00e1ch turisti st\u00fapaj\u00fa po rebr\u00edkoch popri vodop\u00e1doch, ako napr\u00edklad v Kl\u00e1\u0161torskej doline<\/strong>, odkia\u013e trasa vedie na l\u00faku s ruinami vy\u0161e 700 rokov star\u00e9ho kl\u00e1\u0161tora. Odtia\u013e si je mo\u017en\u00e9 po\u017ei\u010da\u0165 bicykel a zjazdi\u0165 cestu do Podlesku<\/strong> \u2013 jedn\u00e9ho z centier, odkia\u013e sa t\u00fary v Raji oby\u010dajne za\u010d\u00ednaj\u00fa.<\/p>\n

Ako jeden z m\u00e1la n\u00e1rodn\u00fdch parkov je Slovensk\u00fd raj pr\u00edstupn\u00fd celoro\u010dne, a to aj v zime. N\u00e1v\u0161teva sne\u017en\u00e9ho hradu, sne\u017en\u00e9 sk\u00fatre, ly\u017eovanie, be\u017ekovanie alebo lezenie po \u013eadop\u00e1doch s\u00fa len niektor\u00e9 z mo\u017enost\u00ed. \u201ePre m\u0148a je asi najv\u00e4\u010d\u0161\u00edm z\u00e1\u017eitkom zamrznut\u00fd Prielom Horn\u00e1du, \u010do sa st\u00e1va len raz za nieko\u013eko rokov. PREKVAPENIE NA KONCI<\/h3>\n

Zima o\u010dar\u00ed aj v \u010fal\u0161ej ob\u013e\u00fabenej turistickej oblasti, v Z\u00e1dielskej doline<\/strong>, ktor\u00e1 sa nach\u00e1dza v Slovenskom krase, 40 kilometrov z\u00e1padne od Ko\u0161\u00edc.<\/p>\n

Pri t\u00fare cez \u0161tyri kilometre dlh\u00fa ties\u0148avu je mo\u017en\u00e9 vidie\u0165 mnoho drobn\u00fdch jask\u00fd\u0148, krasov\u00fdch a skaln\u00fdch \u00fatvarov. Najzn\u00e1mej\u0161\u00edm z nich je Cukrov\u00e1 homo\u013ea<\/strong> vysok\u00e1 105 metrov. Dolina m\u00e1 v niektor\u00fdch miestach \u0161\u00edrku len 10 metrov. V lete je to nen\u00e1ro\u010dn\u00e1 prech\u00e1dzka popri potoku a n\u00e1u\u010dn\u00e9 tabule informuj\u00fa o tunaj\u0161ej chr\u00e1nenej faune a fl\u00f3re. Ter\u00e9n sa men\u00ed na n\u00e1ro\u010dnej\u0161\u00ed na konci doliny pri st\u00fapan\u00ed na planinu, odkia\u013e je fascinuj\u00faci poh\u013ead zo sk\u00e1l do doliny a na obec Z\u00e1diel. Trasa z planiny pokra\u010duje cez les k Turnianskemu hradu<\/strong> alebo do obce H\u00e1j<\/strong>, kde s\u00fa ukryt\u00e9 H\u00e1jske vodop\u00e1dy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ZVY\u0160KY PO SOPKE<\/h3>\n

Pre t\u00fdch, ktor\u00ed maj\u00fa radi pekn\u00e9 scen\u00e9rie, ale z\u00e1rove\u0148 nen\u00e1ro\u010dn\u00fa turistiku, pon\u00faka ko\u0161ick\u00fd regi\u00f3n kompromis \u2013 vulkanick\u00e9 jazero Morsk\u00e9 oko<\/strong>, ktor\u00e9 le\u017e\u00ed vo Vihorlatsk\u00fdch vrchoch<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Autom sa d\u00e1 dosta\u0165 a\u017e na z\u00e1chytn\u00e9 parkovisko Krivec, vzdialen\u00e9 osem kilometrov od obce Remetsk\u00e9 H\u00e1mre<\/strong>. Z parkoviska k jazeru to potom pe\u0161o trv\u00e1 p\u00e4tn\u00e1s\u0165 min\u00fat. Morsk\u00e9 oko s n\u00e1u\u010dn\u00fdm chodn\u00edkom je ob\u013e\u00faben\u00fdm miestom na v\u00edkendov\u00e9 rodinn\u00e9 v\u00fdlety. MORE THAN SIGHTS<\/h3>\n

Several popular trails offer hiking above the Horn\u00e1d River. The significant infrastructure in the park means hikers are charged a symbolic \u20ac1.50 for access to more than 300 kilometres of trails. In several locations visitors must climb ladders alongside waterfalls, including the Kl\u00e1\u0161torn\u00e1 Valley where the climbing ends up on a meadow containing the 700 year old remains of the Kl\u00e1\u0161torisko monastery.<\/p>\n

US Embassy Charge d\u2019Affaires Norman Thatcher Scharpf and his family visited, and found the hikes exceeded their greatest expectations.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe particularly enjoyed the exhilarating thrill of climbing the ladders next to or over waterfalls \u2013 looking to the side or right underneath the ladder and knowing that a misstep would be disastrous,\u201d said Scharpf.<\/p>\n

Scharpf added that his children commented that it would be unlikely they would have the opportunity to do \u201csomething so exciting in the US, because of legal concerns over the possibility of people getting injured\u201d.<\/p>\n

If one prefers to make their way down to Podlesok<\/strong>, one of the entry points to Slovensk\u00fd raj, they can rent bicycles, and drop them off after reaching Podlesok. The area offers winter attractions as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe best experience for me is the frozen Prielom Horn\u00e1du, which happens only once every few years. People can walk on the ice and some of them ice skate,\u201d said Dana Novisedl\u00e1kov\u00e1, hiker from KRTKo (a Ko\u0161ice-based family hiking club).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SURPRISE ENDING<\/h3>\n

And the winter is charming at another popular hiking trail in the Z\u00e1diel Valley<\/strong>, 40 kilometres west of Ko\u0161ice in Slovensk\u00fd kras (Slovak Karst)<\/strong>. Throughout the four-kilometre-long valley there are plenty of small caves, which are not accessible to the public.<\/p>\n

The gorge itself is just 10 metres wide in some parts and features rare flora. The terrain gets more difficult as hikers make their way up to the plain, which is well worth the effort for the view into the valley and Z\u00e1diel village. History buffs can continue east to Tur\u0148a\u2019s castle<\/strong> or visit H\u00e1j<\/strong> village<\/strong> and its four hidden waterfalls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

VOLCANIC LAKE<\/h3>\n

For those who would like to see some scenery, but wish to avoid longer hikes, the Ko\u0161ice region is also home to the volcanic lake Morsk\u00e9 oko (Sea Eye)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

It is easily accessible by a car, located eight kilometres from the village of Remetsk\u00e9 H\u00e1mre<\/strong>. Hikers reach the lake after just 15 minutes of light trail. Morsk\u00e9 oko is popular for weekend family trips. A more challenging trail to the north goes to Snina\u2019s Rock<\/strong>.
