Salt house in Veľké Trakany

In the baroque building of the former salt office, was originally the port for ships and rafts transporting salt from the Eastern Carpathian Mountains. In the renovated building you can find exhibitions of shepherd´s art, traditional salt mining, etnography and localization of both municipality and periphery, the salt museum tour of the Tisza river, the late baroque building was erected in the first half of the 18th century. After the reconstruction, conducted in 2005, a regional historical museum was opened. Locality description provides historical review, horn carvings and how salt was used in the past. Instead of original salt warehouses are buildings of former tobacco warehouses and the yard serves for the purposes of organizing cultural and social events.
