Zipline Beňatina

Do you know which place in the Košice Region is named "Slovak Plitvice Lakes" and which also boasts a whale print on its wall? Good for you, if you already know what we mean, and if these hints don't make sense, we'll tell you. It is an old travertine quarry in the village of Beňatina. The quarry is also known among visitors thanks to its perfect turquoise colour caused by the regular outflow and inflow of new water.

However, the Beñatina Quarry is already the first place in the Košice Region that can boast of a zipline.

The travertine quarry is located halfway on the route Beňatina - Inovce, on the right-hand side. The village of Beňatina belongs to the district of Sobrance, whose eastern border of the district is also the Slovakian-Ukrainian border.

An easy hiking trail leads to the zipline itself.

The easternmost zipline in Slovakia is 180 metres long and consists of a steel cable that leads above the lake at a height of 35 m. The descent takes place with a special strap around the torso along the rope and is accessible to persons over 10 years of age weighing between 40 and 120 kilograms. For your minors, there is a "mini zipline" of a length of 30 metres.

There are up to two castles in the vicinity of the village, specifically their remains. These are Choňkovce Castle (in the village of Choňkovce) and Podhoroď Castle (in the village of Podhoroď). In the vicinity, you may also visit the national cultural monument, which is located in the village of Inovce, namely the Greek Catholic wooden Church of St. Archangel Michael. It is a three-part log building covered by a hipped shingle roof with two turrets.
