Malý Milič – Izra, lake (trail 0915 red, 4.21 km)
If you are attracted by unspoilt nature and the charm of a forest lake, don’t hesitate to set off on this easy trail. You will start at the Malý Milič saddle, where you will be enchanted by the rocky promontory and the opportunity to observe birds of prey in their natural habitat. Malý Milič (765.2 m above sea level) is part of the Slanské Vrchy mountain range and hides rock walls and scree slopes that give it a unique character.
The destination of the route is Lake Izra, a natural gem created by a landslide. Surrounded by dense forests, the lake looks like something out of a fairy tale, and its calm surface is perfect for relaxation and picnics. Historians believe that its name comes from the Old Slavic word ‘jozra’ for lake, which further emphasises its tradition.

If you feel like continuing, the mighty Veľký Milič, the highest peak of the Slanské Vrchy mountains with an impressive volcanic past, is not far away. Košice, KVP housing estate – Nižný Klatov (route 5714 green, 7.30 km)
For those looking for an accessible and pleasant route from the city, the green tourist trail leading from the KVP housing estate to the picturesque village of Nižný Klatov is ideal. The route is easy and suitable for families with children.
At the end of the trail, you will find the peaceful village of Nižný Klatov, which has retained its traditional character and pleasant rural atmosphere. A stroll through its streets, past typical Slovak houses and the surrounding countryside, will give you a true respite from the hustle and bustle of the city.

After completing the route, have a picnic in nature, discover nearby meadows and forests, or just enjoy the fresh air and silence that is often lacking in the city. The village of Nižný Klatov is an ideal starting point for further exploration of the surroundings of Košice.
Malý Milič, saddle – Vlašská Lúka (route 8806 yellow, 4.00 km)
If you are looking for a short but rewarding trip, be sure to try this route. The yellow trail will take you from the Malý Milič saddle to Vlašská Lúka, where you can admire several natural gems along the way.
The first stop is Malý Milič, which will enchant you with its scree walls and the rugged beauty of its rock formations. A little further on, you will discover Miličská Skala rock – a distinctive lava formation that is a remnant of ancient volcanic activity. This geological unique feature will take you back to ancient times when the Slanské Vrchy mountains were shaped by massive volcanic eruptions.

The Jahodná Chalet – Horný Bankov (route 3008 black, 7.30 km)
Fans of leisurely sports and relaxation will find what they are looking for on the route between Jahodná and Horný Bankov. Jahodná, only 15 km from the centre of Košice, is a popular sports and recreation centre. In summer, you can enjoy hiking and cycling, and great skiing in winter.
The route continues to Horný Bankov, where you will find the magical atmosphere of the old relaxation area “Pod Starými Dubmi” (Under the Old Oaks). Here you can discover the remains of the first municipal water supply system, built at the end of the 19th century, or simply relax on benches among the majestic trees.
