Attractions in the area

Among the historical landmarks are the ruins of a Pauline monastery with a Gothic church dating back to 1371. Today, only parts of the original foundations remain. After archaeological research in 2018, a bell tower was built, allowing religious ceremonies to be held once again. The bell tower also serves as a viewing point overlooking the church ruins and the picturesque Slaná river valley.

The area was further improved with new walking paths, benches, a wooden entrance gate, and information boards. The late Baroque manor house of the Andrássy family dates back to the second half of the 18th century. Nearby stands an old craftsmen’s house that once formed part of the Andrássy estate. Another important historical site is the former iron hammer mill with remains of a blast furnace from 1841. Until 2017, it was considered the last surviving hammer mill in the Gemer region.

Visitors can also discover a replica of the Bebek cannon, a fountain depicting the legendary Melusine connected with the Bebek family, and a memorial pedestal dedicated to the anti-Habsburg uprising of the 19th century. An educational trail runs throughout the whole area.
