Hájske pottery
Hájske Pottery was founded in 2012 in the village of Háj, located in a narrow karst valley between the plateaus of the Slovak Karst. I create functional ceramics on a potter’s wheel and fire them in both electric kilns and wood-fired kilns.
During visits, I introduce guests to the production process in my workshop and guide them to the kilns, which I built myself for wood firing. This technique is relatively unique in our region.
During the season, I organize workshops and demonstrations, such as building large vessels with wood firing (course “Pots in Háj”), Raku firing during the Open Gardens Weekend (first weekend of June), workshops during the Advent event in Háj, as well as creative sessions and guided tours for organized groups.
The garden surrounding the traditional “palóc”-style house where the pottery is located is designed for relaxation for both visitors and locals. You will find herb beds, a lavender field with 150 plants from Provence, fruit trees, and evergreen cypress trees.
