Haravarkovia – Drevené postavičky
Characters from the fairy tales of the magical land Haravara, known to adults as the Košice Region, have taken the form of wooden giants reaching a height of 3 meters. The statues of Max and Majka are located directly next to the Zádiel chalet, approximately 3.5 kilometers from the parking area in the village of Zádiel.
They are not only a great place for taking photos, but also serve to motivate the youngest hikers to visit one of the deepest gorges in Slovakia. The installation also includes a fairy-tale styled map of an educational trail leading from the village of Zádiel, around Cukrová homola, all the way to the top of the gorge. The Haravara figures are not just decorations of the site—they also tell the story of the gorge itself, allowing young visitors to learn in a fun way about its history, fauna, flora, and geographical uniqueness. The author of the sculptures is Michal Hanula, inspired by drawings of illustrator Marek Rakučák.
The Haravara children’s program was created in 2021 with the goal of offering space for new experiences, travel, and discovery of fascinating places throughout the Košice Region. The gateway to the world of Haravara experiences is the website https://www.haravara.sk/, where visitors can find attractions, travel tips, children’s events, themed travel fairy tales, as well as fun and educational games.
