Huta Karol

Karlova Huta in Vlachovo is an important technical monument that documents the history of iron production in the 19th century. This three-storey building with a blast furnace, built in 1870, represents a rare example of pig iron production using charcoal. During its operation, the furnace produced thousands of tons of iron, making it an important industrial hub in the region. The building is listed in the national heritage register and is currently managed by the Slovak Technical Museum.

The original complex was extensive, but only the blast furnace has been preserved to this day. This structure is notable not only for its architectural design but also for its historical significance. The furnace is currently awaiting reconstruction and is not open to the public, but it remains an important symbol of metallurgical tradition in the region.
