Informačné centrum, Múzeum, Turistická ubytovňa – Zádiel

Zádiel Gorge, also known as Zádiel Canyon, is a remarkable location within the Slovak Karst National Park. It is part of the iconic Zádiel Valley and, over a length of approximately 3.8 km, offers numerous attractions and opportunities for experiential tourism.

Information Center
The gateway to the gorge is the picturesque village of Zádiel, where, as part of the cross-border Attraction project, a new information center and museum have been created in a renovated building. Its premises provide visitors with all essential information about tourist options, landmarks, and the characteristic fauna and flora of the entire area. The information center offers maps, promotional materials, refreshments, as well as souvenirs.

Museum
The museum hosts an exhibition of regional displays called the Zádiel Cabinet. The exhibition presents to the public an original collection of objects gathered from the residents of the village of Zádiel. The installation concept follows the artistic program of the exhibition’s creator, Košice-based sculptor and intermedia artist Michal Machciník. The collection reflects the “soul” of the local place and works with traces and memory of the Zádiel environment itself. The objects define their own autonomy by being placed in special display cases as materialized artifacts of various kinds—ceramics, textiles, tools, everyday objects, period photographs, and other items of undeniable historical value. The exhibition is complemented by natural specimens borrowed from the Natural Science Fund of the East Slovak Museum. The result is a visually attractive and ethnographic exhibition, a collective work of the inhabitants of Zádiel, the mayor Attila Nehoda, and Michal Machciník. The exhibition also includes a documentary film with Tibor “Tik” Kováč about the history of tramp movement in Zádiel.

Tourist Accommodation
The building also contains a cozy tourist hostel offering 8 rooms, mostly double rooms. One of the rooms is more spacious and suitable for 4 people, ideal for families or groups of friends. The total capacity is 18 beds. A modern, fully equipped kitchen with a dining area is available. Wi-Fi is accessible throughout the hostel. Toilets and showers are shared.
