Kaplnka sv. Jána Nepomuckého v Kluknave

In Kluknava, directly opposite the Roman Catholic Church of St. Catherine of Alexandria, stands a prominent Baroque chapel dedicated to St. John of Nepomuk. This architecturally valuable sacral building dates back to the second half of the 18th century, a period when the cult of this saint was widely spread across Central Europe.

The chapel was commissioned by Imrich Čáki, an important local landowner and the owner of the Kluknava manor. The building has a typical square floor plan and solid masonry, characteristic of late Baroque architecture. Thanks to its location opposite the church, it forms an important visual and historical landmark of the village.

Inside the chapel, there is an original wooden statue of St. John of Nepomuk, considered one of its most valuable preserved elements. Also noteworthy is the original wrought-iron grille decorated with Baroque ornaments, especially volutes and lily motifs typical of sacred art of the period.

During festive seasons, especially Christmas, the chapel is occasionally open to the public and decorated, including a nativity scene with a carillon, creating a unique atmosphere.

Visits are possible only by prior arrangement, ensuring the protection of the historical elements and a more personalized experience.
