Lanovka na Geravy

The Geravy cable car, officially named “single-rope fixed-grip one-seater chairlift circulating aerial ropeway,” is considered a Slovak technical rarity. It was the last operating single-seat chairlift in Slovakia. The nearly two-kilometre-long cable car, with an elevation gain of 221 meters and a capacity of 133 seats, was built in 1970. For about forty years, it transported tourists from the village of Dedinky to the Geravy plateau, carrying around 15,000 passengers annually on average. Its operation from the valley station was discontinued in 2012 due to technical unsuitability.

After years of closure, the cable car resumed operation in 2023 as the only single-seat chairlift in Slovakia. It remains a unique attraction in the Slovak Paradise National Park.

The lower station is in Dedinky (808 m above sea level), and the upper station is at Geravy (1,020 m above sea level). The line is 1,988.7 meters long, with 133 chairs, a transport capacity of up to 290 people per hour, and a maximum speed of 2.2 m/s. Operation runs seasonally from May 1 to October 31.

Certain safety rules apply: children under 1.25 m are not allowed to be transported. Minors under 15 years old above this height may only be transported if secured with safety devices, and the accompanying adult assumes full legal responsibility during the ride.
