Múzeum obuvi - Kluknava
The museum presents footwear from prehistoric times to the present. It exhibits replicas of shoes from the Stone Age and the Bronze Age; however, the main focus of the exhibition is footwear from the period of the First Czechoslovak Republic and the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic. The permanent exhibition also includes mannequins presenting not only shoes but also clothing from the 1950s to the new millennium.
The collection is completed by the Hall of Personalities, featuring portraits and shoes of famous athletes, actors, singers, and scientists. Most of them also contributed letters explaining their personal stories. The museum collection has been enriched by contributions from Miroslav Šatan, Petra Vlhová, Matej Tóth, Kamila Magálová, Michal Hudák, Zuzana Kocúriková, Jožo Ráž, Janko Lehotský, Lev Bukovský, and many others.
Near the museum there is an API house, which introduces visitors not only to beekeeping as part of traditional rural life, but especially to the observation of bee life. The API house includes a room intended for short-term stays of visitors. Resting in the api house is also associated with beneficial effects on the human body – it involves apitherapy using bee air and bee radiation, which positively affects immunity, respiratory problems, asthma, allergies, blood pressure issues, stress, and headaches. The api house is open from spring to autumn, when bees are active.
