Traditional Slovak and regional cuisine

Pivovar Hostinec

Visit the hops-scented brewery in the Gothic Levočský Dom house in the historical centre of Košice. Just below the house, there is a medieval cellar with huge tanks in which the unique beer of the Inn is fermented and matured. Ready-made beer goes into a large fridge at the pub, where you would like it with a well-known creamy foam. The basic beer is the Bright Lager Hostinská 12° made from Pilsen and Bavarian malt. Unlike other lagers, this beer is covered with yeast top fermentation. There is also a yeast twelve and a bunch of other interesting beers maturing in wooden barrels and bottles. There is a very good restaurant with a nice kitchen at the inn, which combines traditional cuisine with modern gastronomy, so you may taste, for example, pork ribs on strawberries with sour cabbage. If you feel like having a sausage with your beer, at Hostinec you can be sure they will only offer meat and greaves from home-bred manglica pigs.
