Bike Around Gemer
Bike Around is a young and ambitious project that was created at the turn of 2023/2024 with the goal of attracting cycling tourists looking for new experiences to the region. We offer the opportunity to discover the Volovské Hills, Slovak Karst, and the Mine Trails trail park, which—like our project—is based in Rožňava, in the heart of the Gemer region.
A new feature of the Mine Trails park is the popular Flow Trail, built in cooperation with regional organizations and cycling initiatives.

Guided e-bike trip
Experience description: A full-day trip with a local guide and trail builder who will take you to lesser-known places around Rožňava. The route is flexible and depends on participants’ preferences.
Recommended equipment:
• Snacks and water
• Waterproof jacket
• Your own SPD pedals (if you use them)
• Cycling gloves and glasses

Starting point: KC Kláštor, Betliarska 2, Rožňava / Námestie baníkov Rožňava
Group size:
• Small groups for e-bike rental
• Slightly larger groups with own bikes
Duration: half-day or full-day trips
Difficulty: from easy to challenging, physically and technically (depending on route)
Weather: no restrictions
Minimum age:
• Guided tours suitable for teenagers and adults
• E-bike rental possible with parental supervision for younger riders
Deposit for e-bikes is returned upon safe return of the bike in the same condition.
Guided cycling routes
Northern route – Majestic Volovec
Difficulty: medium to difficult
Riding level: intermediate to advanced
Physical demand: moderate to high (depending on weather)
Length: 25 km, Time: full-day trip, Elevation gain: 1000 m
The route goes through the village of Čučma and the forests of the Volovské Hills up to Volovec chalet, where we take a break. We continue to Skalisko (1293 m) with a panoramic view, followed by a return ride through scenic terrain back to Rožňava.
Eastern route – Mine Trails park
Difficulty: medium to very difficult
Riding level: advanced to expert
Physical demand: moderate to high (depending on experience and trail choice)
Length: 20–40 km, Time: half-day to full-day trip, Elevation gain: 1000–2000 m
A fun and technical ride with a local trail builder in the Mine Trails park. The park offers multiple singletracks full of jumps, drops, and technical sections, including flow-style trails.
Southern route – Slovak Karst adventure (Silica Plateau)
Difficulty: easy to medium
Riding level: beginner to intermediate
Physical demand: low to moderate
Length: 48 km, Time: full-day trip, Elevation gain: 850 m
A scenic recreational cycling route through the Slovak Karst with beautiful natural views. The route passes historical and natural landmarks and includes climbs and descents across karst landscapes.
Plešivec Plateau route
Difficulty: medium
Riding level: intermediate
Physical demand: moderate
Length: 40 km, Time: full-day trip, Elevation gain: 950 m
A real karst landscape experience with panoramic views, caves, and plateau sections, ending with a scenic descent back to Rožňava.
Western route – Mysterious Turecká
Difficulty: medium
Riding level: intermediate
Physical demand: moderate to high
Length: 28 km, Time: full-day trip, Elevation gain: 1200 m
The route follows a mining ridge and historical trails, including viewpoints, old mining tunnels, ridge sections, and forest descents before returning to Rožňava.
