Kukáň - obrie kvety na Senianskych rybníkoch

The National Nature Reserve is located in the Sobrance District in the Lower Zemplín region of eastern Slovakia. The artwork can be found on the western shore of the fishponds, in the park of the village of Senné.

The installation is inspired by the relationship between birds and the conservationists who protect them, as well as the impact of this connection on the surrounding landscape. Two freestanding structures combine elements of utility poles, flowers, observation towers and bird nests, reflecting ideas about the architecture of nesting habitats. The lower sections have a technical appearance, while the upper parts are formed by baskets woven from natural willow branches, a material traditionally associated with wetland environments.

The artwork can be interpreted in several ways – as a nest, a monument symbolizing coexistence between birds and people, or even as a viewing platform designed for birds themselves. Located near the renowned Senné Fishponds, one of Slovakia’s most important bird habitats, the installation encourages visitors to reflect on nature conservation, biodiversity and the delicate balance between human activity and wildlife.
