Veľký kopec - prírodná vyhliadka Kráľovského Chlmca
Veľký kopec (263.9 m above sea level) rises above the town of Kráľovský Chlmec and is one of the most interesting places in the Východoslovenská rovina, which is part of the Východoslovenská nížina. Thanks to sparse, low vegetation at the top, it offers a beautiful panoramic circular view of the surrounding landscape.
Under favorable conditions, it provides views not only of the Eastern Slovak Lowland, but also of the more distant Zemplínske vrchy, Slanské vrchy, and Vihorlatské vrchy. It is therefore an ideal place for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts.
The site is also important from an environmental protection perspective. It hosts well-preserved communities of thermophilous grass species, including rare and protected European species such as the Hungarian iris (leafless iris) and the large pasque flower.
The area is also rich in wildlife that finds ideal living conditions here. Among the rarest species are invertebrates such as the stag beetle, the blue-winged large copper butterfly, and the colorful swallowtail. Other recorded species include interesting butterflies such as the burnet moth and the scarce fritillary, orthopterans like the bush cricket and the green praying mantis, as well as the cockchafer beetle and the brown hawker dragonfly.
