Sailing on the Ružín Lake by Boat - the Počkaj (Wait) Beach in Margecany

Ružín Reservoir, also known as the Ružín Dam, consists of two water reservoirs - Ružín I and Ružín II. The reservoir is used as a source of utility water for thermal energy and industry. Today, however, it is also an ideal place for fishermen, boaters, but also for ordinary vacationers who want to cool off by the water in the summer heat.

The Ružín Dam is located only 35 km northwest of Košice. The area of the beach bar Počkaj Beach in the village of Margecany will offer you the necessary holiday experience.

The beach bar with its mixed drinks, draft beer and kofola, which you may easily get on a sandy beach, the right holiday mood. After all, you will have a view of one of the most beautiful water reservoirs in Slovakia. If you would like to see a little more of Ružín, small watercraft can help you. You may rent a water bike, a boat powered by electric engine or a rowing boat. The choice is yours.

In the village of Margecany, you should not miss a visit to the famous Margecany Tunnel, which was part of the most important railway line in Historic Hungary. From Margecany, you will be guided to the tunnel by four wooden sculptures depicting a fairy-tale creature - the dwarf Jack-o'-Lantern, who will tell you the story of the dwarfs Lantern, Digger, Tinker, and Shepherd. They will lure you into their "small house" - the tunnel - with their stories.
