Anna Kolesárová Pastoral Centre
The Anna Kolesárová Pastoral Centre (Domček) in Vysoká nad Uhom is a unique place that brings together spiritual pilgrimage, renewal, cultural heritage and quality facilities for pilgrims, families, young people and tourists. The centre stands in the birthplace of Anna Kolesárová, a young martyr known for her story of faith and purity, making it an important place for spiritual reflection, contemplation and remembrance.
It is an ideal destination for those seeking peace, spiritual enrichment or a welcoming family atmosphere, as well as for visitors wishing to combine spirituality, history and time spent in nature. The Pastoral Centre offers a wide range of activities, including pilgrimages, spiritual retreats, prayers, Pilgrimage Saturdays, family gatherings and various community programmes. For young people, families and individuals, it creates a space for deepening inner peace, building community and experiencing faith in an open and supportive environment.
The complex also includes a new modern Youth Centre, which provides accommodation and facilities for social and spiritual activities, significantly expanding the opportunities available to visitors. The village is also home to the Pilgrim’s Way educational trail with eleven stops, offering an opportunity to discover the nature, history and cultural heritage of Lower Zemplín. It is suitable not only for pilgrims, but also for hikers, families with children and students, naturally connecting different groups of visitors and enriching a stay in the region.
One of the stops is the Rosary House, a place closely connected with the life of Blessed Anna Kolesárová. The Pilgrim’s Garden was created beside it, extending the space for contemplation into the outdoors and linking spiritual tourism with nature.
Roses are the main feature of the garden, including preserved varieties that are around 50 years old, complemented by newly planted trees, shrubs and flowers. A winding path leads to architectural elements symbolising four emotions that accompany people through life – joy, pain, victory and celebration. The garden offers space to slow down, relax and recharge in peace and nature. It is freely accessible all year round, with no fixed opening hours.
