Feldov park

Two years after the opening of the Ľudovít Feld Gallery in the premises of the New Orthodox Synagogue, his legacy in Košice was further strengthened in the urban space. This important Košice painter, whose work is today considered an essential part of the region’s cultural heritage, became the inspiration for naming a public space directly in the city centre.

At the corner of Rooseveltova Street and Drevný trh, a park was named after him, which gradually became a place of quiet remembrance and relaxation for residents and visitors of Košice. The park also features his memorial, which recalls the life and work of this “small great artist” and highlights his importance for the city’s artistic history.

Today, the park also serves an important social function, providing a space for relaxation in the busy city centre while at the same time creating a dignified place of cultural memory. Thanks to its location, it has become a natural part of walks through the historic centre of Košice and connects several important urban landmarks.

In this way, the name of Ľudovít Feld is preserved not only in museums and galleries, but also in the everyday life of the city, where his legacy remains visible and present to the public.
