The Slovak Technical Museum
The Slovak Technical Museum (STM) provides a complex view into the history and tradition of Science and Technology. Mining, metallurgy, artistic blacksmith, watch making, engineering, power engineering, typewriters, textile machinery, printing, electrical engineering, geodesy and cartography, photographic and cinematographic equipment, railway and automotive transport, as well as aviation are all represented in the extensive collection of exhibits. Up to this day, the museum has gathered over 33 600 collection items. Interesting exhibitions situated directly at the headquarters of STM include, for example the Hall of Electrical discharges, which documents the development of electrical technology, and the Astronomy exhibition, which is dedicated to the history of astronomy in Slovakia and development of astronomy equipment from ancient times to the present. The museum also includes a planetarium. In addition, the museum always prepares themed exhibitions that are changed regularly.
